I am recently separated after nearly 20 yrs with the same woman, I have two boys, 18 and 16, I am a 20 yr Army Vet and will be retiring soon. My top 10 bad first dates.1) I would not go to a movie, obvious reason. 2) Visiting your parents...OBVIOUS reason...3) Dinner, I don't want you to worry about if there is food in your teeth, or if you will eat in front of me.4) Skiing. Well honestly I haven't ski'd in a long time so I cannot look bad on the first date...lol5) Any place where the music is louder then us talking.... 6) Camping trip.....Your friends would go crazy if you told them that one...lol7) Renaissance Fair....I don't need the competition..Yeah right.8) A bar, ummm NO.9) My house or Yours.....Yeah right.***A weekend trip to Bahamas...Well.....But it would have been cool.I changed this up with a little experience now under my belt. The first date should be something fun because it will be awkward. Miniature Golf, Bowling, etc.

*Update I just changed my mail settings so that a first contact message has to be 50 characters...just way too many 'hey there' messages.*I'm a friendly, approachable, communicative, adventurous, confident, outdoorsy tall guy who is looking for a committed relationship. I'm educated and well-travelled. I'm athletic and love getting outside for all kinds of activities and sports..my go-to summer outside activities are swimming, beach volleyball and cycling and I *love* skiing in the winter. That said, I have definitely been known to lounge on the couch too and I once watched 21 episodes of '24' in one weekend. Ouch. Admittedly, this was a long time ago. I grew up in the woods and spent most of my childhood playing outside. I've been a tree planter, bike courier and kayak guide in my life...all wonderful jobs that let me make money outside. These days my job keeps me primarily inside but I have lots of time off to play so it's all good.Speaking of my job - I love it. It gives me an incredible sense of fulfillment and it challenges my brain every day. Most days I consider myself privileged to do my job and work with my co-workers; they are amazing people. I should mention that I work shift work, 4 days on and 4 days off. Personally, I love it but if that's a turn-off for you then I figure I might as well get it out of the way.I'm looking for someone who is happy and adventurous. Confident and affectionate. Caring and open-minded. Spontaneity is great but so too is responsibility. I love my family and hope that you do too. As many others have said, the first date is usually just about finding about whether there is going to be a second date :) And I think second dates are usually a lot more interesting and adventurous than first dates.
