This is my second attempt at writing this so here goes. I think I am down-to-earth, sensible, friendly, intelligent and responsible and I am TOLD that I am good-looking and look younger than I am. Above I stated that I farm, but actually most of it is rented out and I don't spend too much time at it any more (I like to KNOW how much income I'm going to make each year and I want to have more free time to explore other things that life has to offer). I believe in sticking with your friends and family through thick and thin. Country life suits me fine but its nice to get away and find new places, meet new people and have new experiences. In the near future I am hoping to increase the amount of time I can devote to travel and seeing more of the world. When I go somewhere I don't like to just lay on the beach or sit at the bar (although they are enjoyable too) but I like to get around and experience the history, people and geography of an area. One son is out in Kelowna working and going to school so I have been out to see him on occasion and I really enjoy that part of the country. My pride and joy are my 2 boys who are both well started in their careers and seem to be well-adjusted and happy. Hauling them around to many athletic and school activities over the years I even got used to some of the music they listened to and although I still prefer tunes from the sixties, seventies and eighties I'll listen to just about anything. I enjoy get-togethers with family and friends (I have a large extended family) for meals, games, campfires and visiting. I enjoy cooking, especially trying new recipes and even experimenting (some creations maybe don't work out too well but it is a learning experience). I have a substantial asparagus patch that will soon be in full production and I csan't even begin to use it all so if you like asparagas I always have lots to give away in the spring. I also frequently attend local sporting events and fundraisers. I like to keep up with current events and have a wide variety of interests that, I believe, I can have an intelligent conversation about.(I guess you will have to serve judgement on whether "intelligent" applies). I seem to retain a lot of -sometimes useless?-information in this blockhead of mine but it comes in handy in Trivial Pursuit, Who Wants to be a Millionaire and settling arguments between my friends. I know that I have a great sense of humor (I seem to be using "I" a lot here) and would be looking for someone that can give and take in that department. Life would be pretty dry if we were serious all the time. I spent around 4 years as a single parent getting my boys through high school and then a few years getting them through post secondary, but now that they are on their way, so to speak, I am looking for someone to share this journey we call life. It would really be nice to have some-one to explore the world with, both near and far. I don't really have a particular kind of person in mind. I have friends with a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds and I enjoy meeting with and interacting with them all. Honesty, generosity, compassion, independence, intelligence, humor and family values are probably the only DEFINITE requirements I have. When I read this it does sound like a lot, but I think they are all tied together in one way or another! If you can put these attributes together in a nice package, so much the better. Divorced father of 2 great kids, both teens. I am fully employed and educated. I like going for drives in the country, bicycling, walking, watching movies and, of course, doing stuff with the kids. I read often and always love to learn something new. I am a creative, accomplished handyman and can fix or build almost anything. I love many kinds of music but I'm not particularily fond of country.I am intelligent, personable, presentable & funny. I spend a lot of time with my kids and, so far, am doing a good job of raising them. Their mother and I have long since forgotten the past and now work well together for their future. The Bad *** I grew up rough. I left home before my 15th birthday, lived on the streets and basically raised myself the hard way. After the age of 35 I finished my high school, went to college and on to university while working simultaneously. I am now respected for the skills I carry and the old me is a different person from a long time ago. Some of the baggage I carry from those days are a minor criminal record (which is why I don't travel much), street smarts (you can take the kid out of the streets but you can't take the streets out of the kid) & a 34 year old daughter I've never met (but plan to soon).I very rarely drink and quit cigarettes a while ago.What I'm looking for?Someone fairly active but not too maniacal.
