Here's a little about me. I'm a somewhat outgoing person who enjoys good conversation about a variety of topics. I can be serious at times, but I usually prefer to keep things light-hearted. I enjoy going to auctions and antique markets to look at old objects because I enjoy history. I guess I'm always in learning mode since I'm a teacher. I just returned from Guatemala on a volunteer vacation (took some Spanish classes too), and I'd love to do more foreign traveling with a partner. I'd also like a companion to take in some of the nearby sights. I consider myself independent and low maintenance and I feel most comfortable in a t-shirt and sandals, but I always dress for the occasion.-received. I can also make a decent beef stew, meat loaf or even a pizza on the grill. So someone who appreciates the effort of producing my epicurean delights, but can hold his own in the kitchen when I'm too tired to cook would be much appreciated.I should also include that I think while I can be soft-hearted, I can occasionally engage in a little schadenfreude with the right company. So no one usually mistakes me for a Pollyana. I've got way too much chutzpah, and my quick wit and sarcasm are often apparent. So a match who's like-minded is a huge bonus in that regard. As a general rule, I try very much to conduct myself with pride and class as these traits are important to me and my family. I was raised by a teacher, and as a teacher myself, I try to be a role model for my students. But it's really like a lifestyle...it's simply the way I live my life.Regarding my match: I'm looking for an intelligent and intellectually curious, confident and financially secure professional guy who is compatible with me in a large number of areas. Someone who will understand and appreciate my little bit of independence, but is there when I need him. I'd love to meet someone who enjoys home improvement projects as I enjoy making improvements in my home. If I could find someone who enjoys biking on some of the railtrails in the area, that would be much appreciated.I'm fairly traditional, and I usually prefer to be pursued, rather than be the pursuer. But I've had my moments. For those of you familiar with the Myers- I also have a fairly strong moral compass, and since I'm a teacher you won't find me partaking in anything that might get me arrested! But I don't think that makes me dull either. With regard to religion, I was raised Methodist for the most part (we attended an Episcopal church for a few years too). That being said, I'm open to a partner who enjoys an active role within their church as long as we can find a happy medium.I'm looking for someone who wants to be with me as a companion and friend. And yes, we'd need chemistry to keep it interesting. Since my pug owns me, I hope you like dogs!Regrettably, I never had children when I was married for a variety of reasons. So I am open to matches with children, but I do have strong ideas about how to raise kids. So hopefully, if you have kids and we click, then we also share similar child rearing values.     Hi, so, OK I am looking to meet someone new. Lets get together and talk a bit, have a drink or coffee and see where it goes from there. I am educated, self sufficient and have a good job that I love. I am looking for the same in a partner. I am not overly enthusiastic about the online dating thing. But there arent a whole lot of other options these days.OK time for the babble..- just as much as finding a great little local place; wineries and wine bars; trying a great new recipe or ordering in a pizza and a salad. I am not opposed to catching a band at a local pub. However, the bar/club scene is not my thing.I am not a big TV person, although I have been known in the past to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon watching Law and Order marathons. I love music, but I rarely get around to updating my iPod and often play the same songs over and over again. If we go out a few times and it doesn't work out, at the very least I have put myself out there and have made a potential new friend. The last few years I have not really known what it was I am looking for in a relationship, and I am still not sure. It would be really nice to be with someone who wanted to be stuck in the house with me for the weekend when there is a hurricane coming. Or just coming over on a random Tuesday night, well, just because you want to see me. Chances are, I am looking forward to seeing you too.. Maybe there is someone out there that is capable balancing all of the important things in their life and maybe one of those things can be me. I have known great joy in my life and profound sadness as well. I say this because it has made me who I am today. I am flawed, and therefore understanding. I can be sarcastic, but never caustic. I am kind, but not weak. I am shy, as well as playful. I love to be silly and laugh. As far as I am concerned, laughter is lifes greatest aphrodisiac. Being comfortable enough with someone that I can let my hair down and sing bad karaoke with is an aspiration of mine. I like to talk about going to the gym but consider it a successful month if I make it there 3 times a month. Your welcome NYSC.
