Thanks for stopping by to read my LONG profile - lol!I'm at a point in my life where I am not dating, "just to date," and I'm looking to settle down, get married, etc. I'm NOT looking for casual sex or casual dating. If you're recently divorced, please don't write, as I don't want to be anyone's transition girl in helping you get back into the dating world. I'm clear on what I want and don't want to waste time. I have a strong personality and like to challenge my partner as well as a partner who challenges me. I am attracted to a professional type (handsome, well groomed, athletic/physically fit, etc). I am looking for a gentleman with class who likes to treat a woman like a lady. I like having the door held open for me and good old fashioned, courting. Individuals who are assertive, direct and deliberate are more my type - probably due to my upbringing - family is from Brooklyn, NY - so I tend to gravitate towards that type.I like the restaurants in the Short North and Grandview area and am not into mainstream very much.I gotta admit, I'm not real big on facial hair and NOT usually attracted to the "country-boy" type. Not into Nascar at all. I like a person who can carry on a conversation on politics, sports, religion, history, etc. I like intellect and humor. I'm a very open person, possibly to a fault. I have an ornery and playful side to me as well and am somewhat of a smart a*s., as I enjoy dry humor, quick wit and sarcasm. I love the partnership of being a couple and love domestic life. I like nice things, but am not superficial by any means. I am also very direct and speak my mind, so one always knows where they stand with me and there is no ambiguity. I am by no means, passive. I look for that in a partner as well. I am a fun-loving, energetic, out-going, independent person. I view marriage as a solid commitment for life vs. a disposable relationship, as seems to be the viewpoint among many people anymore. My parents have been married for 55 years, so I have an idea of what it takes to make it for the long haul. Relationships are work and require compromise, open, honest and direct communication, and persons who are able to give and take on a proportionate level.I like my life, but would like it better if I had a partner with whom to enjoy my life. I'd like a person who would like to go to Pittsburgh for a weekend to take in a Steelers game, Chicago for the weekend to catch a Cubs game and check out all that city has to offer, New Orleans for the jazz and flavor of the city, New England or Hocking Hills in the Fall, garden, volunteer, exercise together or go to New York for Christmas, etc. Life and success are better when shared with someone you love. Hanging out and watching a movie and cooking togehter, getting into hobbies togehter, etc. I find that the relationships I see that are successful are those where the couples are also each other's best friend. I am looking for that type of relationship. I am looking for a partner.To me, when you really care about someone, you're happy just being with them anywhere - a tent in the middle of nowhere, staying home for the weekend, or traveling somewhere. Just their presence alone adds joy to your life.Kindness, humor & HUMILITY are important to me. I believe in old fashioned courting (dinners, movies, walks in parks, conversations on a porch or over a glass of wine and music, getting ice cream together, making dinner together, bike riding, flowers, etc.) in establishing and CULTIVATING a relationship vs. jumping into bed right away, then getting to know each other later. I like a person with character and integrity who does the right thing, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. I treat others the way I like to be treated, and appreciate that in return. I believe in common courtesy and good old fashioned manners, KINDNESS - not games. Say what you mean and mean what you say. I'm traditional, grounded & down to earth. I like to keep an open mind & shy away from passing judgment. I like someone who makes me laugh, especially at myself. I love verbal banter, so dry humor & quick wit are important to me. I am looking for someone who is ESTABLISHED, with little or no baggage. I'm NOT looking for someone who is just like me, as that would be boring. I'll admit, I like a person who enhances my life and pushes me to grow, spiritually, intellectually and physically. I hope to contribute equally, as I believe in reciprocity in making a relationship work. I appreciate the little things in life that show thoughtfulness vs. obligatory items and material items. I like people who introduce me to new things, ideas, & places. I am attracted to the "CLEAN CUT," physically fit/athletic type. I think it's great to work out, but when it almost becomes an obsssion for a guy, it can be equated with self absorption. Family is important & I love kids! I love spontaneity. I am the type you could take to the symphony one night & to a sports event the next. I really want to spend time with friends & family for socializing vs. the bar scene. I am a die-hard romantic. I'd love to find someone who likes to get into outdoor activities (camping, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, skiing, travel) for a change of scenery. I'm very direct, as I'd rather get to the point of the matter. At times, I'm vivacious & out-going; other times, I like to sit back & be a quiet observer. I am a very caring person, but am somewhat guarded. What I am looking for is someone who is strong within them self, who likes to continually grow & a PARTNER in life to grow with, who wants to SUPPORT each other throughout a lifetime together, being there for each other.
