Like so many before me, I'm a friendly Maritimer who is packing up and making the move out West. I'm a newly graduated teacher and I was incredibly lucky to get a great job offer on the other side of the country. I have never been to Calgary before so I expect to be somewhat lost for awhile... How about showing me some western hospitality and pointing me in the right direction ;)Teaching is an awesome career and I'm quite ready for the move. I spent three years living, teaching and traveling around Asia so I found being tethered at home for the last 2 years kind of excruciating.When I have two feet planted on the ground I'm pretty laid back and take time to appreciate the little things. It takes a lot to make me cranky because I've seen enough things in third-world countries that would make anyone take a step back and question what they truly have to worry about. I'm easily entertained which means I'm very rarely ever bored and I can always have a good time in any situation.I love traveling, TED talks, occasional fishbowl--hand bookstores, spontaneous road trips with good soundtracks, the beach, museums, learning new things, watching classic movies over and over again, breakfast at the wrong times of day, and being with good people. Life is short so I try to fill my days with as much happiness as possible! Besides, no one will ever read a memoir entitled, "LAME."Right now, I'm looking for some new friends to show me around the city. I don't know anyone here, which should scare me, but luckily I find peace in solitude every now and then. If something develops from a friendship then that would be an added bonus. I'm a confident, smart, driven, ambitious, successful woman and I'm very happy about the way my life has turned out thus far. I believe in living life to the fullest, we only get one shot at it. Life is far too short to be unhappy!... Anyway, I like lists, so perhaps this one will give you some more insight into me...-I am a Sorority girl & a geek (I refuse to fall into a stereotype)-I am fortunate enough to LOVE my job-I graduated in ***with a BS in MIS and in May ***with my MBA-I like to be challenged on a daily basis-I thrive off chaos-I have more optimism than 99% of the population-I love animals and can't imagine not having pets -I appreciate properly used grammar-I plan my days so that I can get enough sleep (8 hours or I'm grumpy)-I believe rainy days are meant for staying in bed-My favorite day of the year is the first time it snows-I listen to any kind of music (as long as I can sing along to it)-I am not a coffee drinker (though in the summer I love the occasional iced coffee)-I can't remember life before my iPhone-I own a home with my twin sister-I am notorious for having car problems, though my newest one is good to me...for now-I put on pjs as soon as I get home from the office-I love my 35 min commute for the sole reason that it gives me time to listen to music and sing completely off key...and I don't even care that other drivers probably give me funny looks :***I know. Shame on me. -*update*.. Now I want to go back for more!!!-I have always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. I've had an acoustic for 9 years now and I've still yet to learn.What I'm looking for:Send me a nice message and tell me something about yourself! I get more than my fair share of messages, and while I promise I will do my best to read each every one, say something that will make you stand out.Chances are I will not respond to you if:-Your message or profile is written with bad grammar - dating is like interviewing...you wouldn't go into an interview looking sloppy or with typos on your resume...same goes for your profile and the way you present yourself in your messages-You only say "hey, what's up?" Look, I wrote a long profile, and if you can't find ONE SINGLE THING to talk about based upon what's here, I can already tell we won't get along. Keep it short & sweet. I'm not big on long exchanges before the meet-up, as I find that regardless of how much you talk to someone online you can never truly KNOW THEM until you get to interact with them face-to-face. Other than that, I'm a big proponent of the man taking the lead on planning it. Oh but hey, it's the 21st century and I do well for myself - I'm willing to go dutch on the bill, but you men are all so confusing. Some get insulted when you offer to pay and some literally wait for you add your share. Help a girl out and set the expectations up front.
