Goodness. Write about me. I suppose I once thought there were rules to follow but 27 years and 16 countries later, I no longer know if there are rules. If there, I'm sure I am not following them. I do know that I am a believer. I do not necessary mean in God. Belief, for me, is an end to itself. I believe in people – individually and as a whole. I believe in love and silliness and the inevitability of death and taxes. I believe in things whole-heartedly, because if we cannot do that, we might just as well give up. I believe in bright colors and movement and the ability to shape your reality. Each morning, I believe that it will be a beautiful day, and the vast majority of the time, I believe right. I am fierce New Yorker but I did not expect to return here now. A combination of ties and circumstances have brought me back to the waters I once called home. The moon pulls the tides, I suppose. I have way too many craft supplies, and a dangerous proclivity towards kitsch. I love my library card. I have rested my head on tigers in Thailand, and had homeless children in Chile rest theirs’ on me. I have lived spent two years in an African mud hut. I spent five months driving in a van across the country, talking about extreme poverty with anyone who would listen. When I try to sum up my life, I am can do no better than to borrow from a favorite e.e. I come here because so many others have, and I am intrigued by the forums that allow us to connect in a world where iBubbles have displaced intimacy. Our lives have so much cynicism as it is, but like I mentioned, I believe. Scrabble in a coffee shop. Or you know, drinks or something.
